April 8th is Easter this year!
I can remember as a kid looking forward to this holiday cause it brought the feeling of “Spring” and all the bright colors that come with Easter give a feeling of “Happiness”. How could you possibly look at all those “Bright” colors and not feel “Happiness”. I can remember riding in the car and our Mom singing “Peter Cottontail” as we traveled to my Grandparents for this Family Holiday. We loved it. As I have aged and brought my own children into this world, I find myself singing it to them (just a small corse part..hahahah) but YES, their Grandma sings it to them as well. She some how still knows all the lyrics but me, (even after years of being a pre-K teacher) still every year I have to print out the lyrics so my children don’t just hear the cores part I know…. THANK GOODNESS FOR Google Search!!! LOL…
Secondly, prior to having children, I would always make this my first wreath project for the year. But now that I have my children, I find it more rewarding and fulfilling to have them make one together as a Family and place that on the door. Yes, I know, it may no be as elaborate BUT when I walk up to my door, (especially if I have a bad day) it brings a “smile” to my face.
Finally, this is also the FIRST official gathering of our Family for the year. As some of my readers are aware we have 65 Family Members locally and YES we get together for ALL MAJOR HOLIDAYS. So, it is exciting to see everyone and gear up for the year. Hear stories of who has been up to what, or who got into what college, or just about all the Athele’s stories. And yes, it is LOUD…but we all love it. The older “grand kids” fill Easter Eggs with ALL KINDS of trinkets or money to watch the “Great Grand Children” (our children) run throughout the yard and find Eggs as we did at our Grandparents yard when we were children.
